Customized Porcelain Veneers for the Smile of Your Dreams

Porcelain veneers placed at our Mesa office offer a fast, incredibly effective way to transform your entire smile. Do you have one or two teeth that are misshapen or that have minor imperfections such as small chips or cracks? Porcelain veneers are custom-made shells that attach to the front surface of your tooth to conceal these imperfections and create symmetry in your smile. Dr. Mark Wade will take careful note of your natural smile characteristics to help you achieve an enhancement that looks beautiful and natural. In as little as two visits over the course of about two weeks, we can provide you with the stunning smile you have always wanted. Kinds of Veneers

Dr. Wade provides two kinds of porcelain veneers: traditional, which require some preparation of the tooth; and Lumineers®, a variation on this treatment that requires no preparation. Lumineers® are therefore reversible, while a tooth prepared for a traditional veneer will always require a veneer or other restoration. However, if you wish to conceal crowding or gaps between teeth, traditional veneers usually provide the most effective, natural-looking results. Dr. Ware can help you to determine which kind of veneer will best meet your goals.

Placing Veneers

Before placing porcelain veneers, we generally recommend that patients undergo a teeth whitening procedure. By doing this, you can achieve an optimum shade of teeth, and your veneer can be created to match this shade. Finally, when your treatment is complete, you can enjoy a smile that is not only symmetrical, but bright and healthy looking.

If you have chosen to receive a traditional porcelain veneer,  your first visit to our office will involve the preparation of the tooth or teeth you wish to enhance. You will receive a local anesthetic to ensure your best possible comfort. Next, a portion of the tooth (the approximate thickness of an egg shell) will be removed to accommodate the veneer. Next, a mold will be taken of the prepared tooth. This mold will be sent to an offsite laboratory, where skilled technicians will create a custom veneer with the precise size, shape and color to match your smile. The Lumineers® process is the same, but no preparation of the tooth is required.

In about two weeks, your custom veneer or Lumineers® will be ready for placement. First, it will be "tried in" to ensure a proper fit. If necessary, some adjustments can be made. Finally, the surface of the tooth will be etched lightly to help the veneer bond to the tooth. A special adhesive will be placed on the tooth, the veneer will be set in place, and a special curing light will be used to expedite the bonding process. Finally, you can leave our office with a beautiful new smile!

Caring for Your Veneer

Veneers and Lumineers® are highly durable, but not invincible. You can help ensure many years of beautifully enhanced smiles by avoiding habits such as chewing your nails, and by avoiding chewing hard or sticky foods with your veneer. As always, practicing proper dental hygiene and undergoing regular checkups will also help ensure the best results.
